Please hand laboratory specimens into Reception before 12:00 on weekdays.

Please allow enough time for the results to come back and be processed before telephoning. Blood results can take a week to come back to the surgery. Any scan results you are waiting for (CT, Ultrasound, MRI and bone density) can take 2 weeks, so please bear this in mind.

Any results for investigations arranged by hospital go back to consultant that have requested these, not us and it is the consultant’s responsibility to inform patient, so if you are waiting for these results please can you phone your consultant to chase.

If the doctor needs to see or speak to you urgently regarding the test results, you will be contacted by the surgery. In all other cases, it is the patient’s responsibility to contact the surgery to obtain the laboratory test results.

Please note that we can only give results to the patient or to the parents of minors unless there is express consent on a patient’s record to speak to a third party. The receptionist is not qualified to discuss your results. She/he can only pass on to you the message recorded on your results by the doctor.
